BENGALURU, October 17, 2025<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Marking World Trauma Day, HOSMAT Hospitals launched a dual-front initiative in the city, combining a vibrant public flash mob with critical life-support training for Bengaluru police, in a direct response to the city’s alarming road accident statistics.<\/p>\n

The event, held at the bustling Hennur Crossing, saw a sudden eruption of a choreographed flash mob, captivating pedestrians and motorists to drive home messages on road safety, helmet use, and the dangers of speeding. Simultaneously, a dedicated team from the hospital conducted an intensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training camp for over 50 personnel from the Hennur Police Station. <\/p>\n

A City at Risk: The Imperative for Action<\/strong><\/p>\n

The urgency of these interventions is underscored by grim data. In the first six months of 2025 alone, over 29,000 fatalities were recorded on India’s national highways, representing more than half of the previous year’s total toll. Closer to home, Bengaluru witnessed 4,784 road accidents in 2024, resulting in 893 deaths. A particularly stark statistic reveals that approximately 70% of vehicles involved in fatal accidents in the city are two-wheelers, highlighting a critical need for helmet compliance and safer riding practices.<\/p>\n

Empowering First Responders on the Frontline<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BLS training camp moved beyond theory, focusing on hands-on demonstrations and practical drills for the police force, who are often the first to arrive at accident scenes. Officers were trained in vital techniques, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to stabilize accident victims before medical teams can take over.<\/p>\n

The initiative was met with strong appreciation from the police department. Deepak L., Inspector of Police at Hennur Police Station, stated, \u201cThis activity organised by Hosmat Hospital was very well planned and truly impactful. The hands-on training was extremely useful \u2014 we now know how to react to patients with cardiac arrest as first responders. We also learned how to handle accident victims more effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n

His sentiment was echoed by Sub Inspectors Parshuram B. and Narasimalu, who commended the hospital for empowering police personnel with these essential emergency response skills.<\/p>\n
