Bengaluru’s Long-Awaited 3-Km Linking Road Project Finally Begins Construction<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

BTM Layout, Bengaluru:<\/strong>\u00a0In a significant move to ease traffic congestion in South-East Bengaluru, the long-delayed 3-kilometer linking road between Ejipura’s Inner Ring Road and Sarjapura Main Road officially commenced construction on Thursday, following a groundbreaking ceremony attended by state government and defence officials.<\/p>\n

The project, valued at approximately \u20b947 crores, will create an 80-foot wide thoroughfare designed to improve connectivity between East Bengaluru and the bustling Outer Ring Road (ORR) and HSR Layout corridors. The initiative, funded through special grants from the Government of Karnataka (GOK), had been stuck in the planning stages since its inception in the 2015 master plan due to pending land transfer from the Ministry of Defence.<\/p>\n

A Decade-Long Wait Ends<\/strong><\/p>\n

For nearly a decade, the project remained a line on the city’s development map, unable to move forward as it required the handover of 5.34 acres of defence land. The stalemate was finally broken after sustained negotiations between the state authorities and the defence establishment.<\/p>\n

A government representative present at the ceremony marked the significance of the day, stating, \u201cIn the 2015 master plan, this linking road was envisaged to facilitate connectivity between East Bengaluru and ORR, HSR. However, due to the non-completion of the handover of defence land, the government could not take up this project. Finally, the day has come.\u201d The representative added, \u201cOur State government was always ready for developing this road. Today we have started the project and promise to complete it at the earliest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collaborative Effort for Civic Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony, which included a traditional \u2018pooja\u2019 performed by legislator Ramalinga Reddy, highlighted the collaborative nature of the project. The event saw the presence of senior defence officials, including Brigadier Biju Shantharam and Colonel KP Rajendra from the HQ Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area, signalling the formal cooperation for the land transfer and the associated fencing work on the defence property.<\/p>\n

The project’s execution will be handled by the B-SMILE agency, with Geetha EE serving as the Executive Engineer. The strong turnout from local civic bodies, including presidents and office-bearers of multiple blocks of Koramangala Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) and representatives from neighbouring layouts, underscored the community’s high expectations for the road’s traffic-decongesting benefits.<\/p>\n

Once completed, the new road is expected to provide a crucial alternative route for thousands of commuters, reducing travel time and easing the pressure on existing arteries in the Koramangala, Ejipura, and Srinivagilu areas.
