After taking up the matter with the Chief Minister, the government has now decided to bear the beneficiaries\u2019 share for poor families,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1431\">According to Khan, the government has already released <strong data-start=\"1128\" data-end=\"1142\">\u20b9500 crore<\/strong> to fast-track construction. In the <strong data-start=\"1178\" data-end=\"1193\">first phase<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1195\" data-end=\"1212\">36,789 houses<\/strong> were allotted, while in the <strong data-start=\"1241\" data-end=\"1257\">second phase<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1259\" data-end=\"1276\">40,345 houses<\/strong> are ready for allotment. He has given in-principle approval for the state to take responsibility for the contribution. The decision is likely to benefit lakhs of urban and rural poor who have been waiting for years to receive promised housing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2651\" data-end=\"2861\">The emphasis on slum redevelopment also aligns with Karnataka\u2019s long-term urban renewal agenda, especially in Bengaluru, where slum-dwelling families make up a large share of the city\u2019s low-income population.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2863\" data-end=\"2890\">Opposition\u2019s Concerns<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2891\" data-end=\"3230\">While the announcement was welcomed in the Assembly, some members from the Opposition raised concerns over delays, bureaucratic hurdles, and the quality of construction in previous phases. Housing activists have also urged the government to ensure <strong data-start=\"3139\" data-end=\"3174\">transparent allotment processes<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"3179\" data-end=\"3200\">strict monitoring<\/strong> to prevent misuse of funds.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3252\" data-end=\"3620\">With both central and state-backed housing projects now set to be revived, Karnataka could witness one of its largest low-cost housing drives in recent years.
