Bengaluru, August 4, 2025<\/em> \u2014 In a proactive move ahead of peak monsoon activity, BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao<\/strong> has directed civic officials to take immediate and comprehensive measures to prevent waterlogging and pothole-related disruptions across Bengaluru.<\/p>\n

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the BBMP Head Office on Monday, Rao underscored the urgent need to tackle chronic flooding spots<\/strong>, particularly along the Outer Ring Road (ORR)<\/strong> and other key traffic corridors, where rain-induced inundation is a recurring concern.<\/p>\n

Flood-Prone Hotspots Identified for Priority Action<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rao identified several vulnerable junctions and underpasses that demand urgent intervention, including:<\/p>\n

Hebbal Junction,\u00a0Nagawara Junction,\u00a0Vidyashilpa Junction,\u00a0Rupeena Agrahara,\u00a0Marathahalli Police Station vicinity,\u00a0Karthik Nagar,\u00a0Kasturi Nagar Flyover,\u00a0Palace Guttahalli,\u00a0Panathur Railway Underpass, Nayandahalli Junction,\u00a0RR Nagar Arch,\u00a0Sumanahalli Junction<\/p>\n

The Commissioner called for immediate desilting and cleaning of roadside drains<\/strong> and proper slope management to ensure smooth flow of rainwater. He also instructed officials to ensure seamless coordination with BMRCL<\/strong> at sites where metro construction is underway, so that civic and transport infrastructure projects don\u2019t exacerbate flooding risks.<\/p>\n

In addition to waterlogging, Rao turned his attention to the surge in potholes<\/strong> that disrupt traffic and endanger commuters, particularly during the rains. A compiled list of pothole hotspots by the BBMP traffic division was reviewed in the meeting.<\/p>\n
