VTU Launches Pioneering Centre of Excellence to Drive Next-Gen Tech Innovation<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Hub-and-Spoke Model to Foster Research, Startups, and Skill Development<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Bengaluru, July 10, 2025:<\/strong>\u00a0In a significant step toward bolstering India\u2019s technological prowess, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), in collaboration with the Visvesvaraya Research and Innovation Foundation (VRIF) and Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) India, inaugurated a cutting-edge\u00a0Centre of Excellence (CoE)<\/strong>\u00a0on the auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima.<\/p>\n

Union Minister of Communications\u00a0Jyotiraditya Scindia<\/strong>\u00a0inaugurated the state-of-the-art facility, joined by\u00a0Dr. Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil<\/strong>, Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, and\u00a0Prof. Vidyashankar S<\/strong>, Vice-Chancellor of VTU. The CoE aims to accelerate research, innovation, and skill development in next-generation technologies, fostering India\u2019s digital transformation.<\/p>\n

A National Innovation Nucleus<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The CoE will operate on a\u00a0hub-and-spoke model<\/strong>, with the central hub at VTU\u2019s Bengaluru Regional Centre. This hub will spearhead national-level R&D programs, while\u00a030+ affiliated institutions<\/strong>\u00a0will serve as spokes, driving domain-specific research and regional innovation.<\/p>\n

Prof. Vidyashankar S<\/strong>, Vice-Chancellor of VTU, emphasized the Centre\u2019s potential, stating:
\n*\u201cLeveraging VTU\u2019s vast academic network\u2014spanning 212 affiliated institutions, over 400,000 students, and 20,000 PhD-qualified researchers\u2014this CoE will bridge academia and industry. Alongside TCOE\u2019s industry partnerships, we will drive translational research, entrepreneurship, and large-scale skill development in emerging tech domains.\u201d*<\/p>\n
