Bengaluru\/Tehran:<\/strong>\u00a0Nine medical students from Karnataka are stranded in Tehran amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, leaving their families in a state of distress. The students, enrolled at Shahid Beheshti Medical University, are unable to return home as missile strikes and geopolitical instability disrupt travel and communication.<\/p>\n

With Iran imposing partial communication blackouts, parents in Karnataka are struggling to stay in touch with their children, amplifying fears for their safety. The Indian Diaspora Committee (NRI Forum) has now stepped in, urging the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to facilitate the students’ immediate evacuation.<\/p>\n

Parents Plead for Help as Communication Blackout Worsens Crisis<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nadeem Hussain, one of the stranded students, alerted his family in Bengaluru about the deteriorating situation, prompting them to seek intervention from the NRI Forum.<\/p>\n

“We are extremely worried. The news of bombings and internet shutdowns has left us sleepless,”<\/em>\u00a0said Hussain\u2019s father.\u00a0“We urge the government to bring our children back safely.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Responding swiftly, Dr. Arathi Krishna, Vice-Chairperson of the NRI Forum, wrote to the MEA requesting urgent assistance.\u00a0“We are in constant touch with authorities and monitoring the situation closely,”<\/em>\u00a0she confirmed.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that mobile networks in Iran are being shut down during night hours, cutting off students and migrant workers from their families. The blackout has exacerbated anxiety among relatives back home, who are now relying on diplomatic channels for updates.<\/p>\n

Kannadigas in Israel Also at Risk; Kumaraswamy Assures Support<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The crisis extends beyond Iran, with several Kannada-speaking Indians stranded in Israel. Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy reached out to affected individuals, assuring them of government support.<\/p>\n

“I have spoken to many Kannadigas in Israel and assured them of necessary steps in coordination with the MEA for their safe return,”<\/em>\u00a0Kumaraswamy said in a public statement.<\/p>\n

He praised the efforts of Indian officials in conflict zones, stating,\u00a0“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s leadership, the government is taking swift action to protect citizens abroad. The work of our officials in Israel is commendable.”<\/em><\/p>\n
