Pachmarhi, the verdant hill station nestled in the Satpura ranges, is undergoing a major transformation as part of Madhya Pradesh\u2019s strategic push to develop heritage destinations into sustainable tourism hubs. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav recently inaugurated and laid the foundation for tourism projects worth \u20b933.88 crore, aiming to enhance visitor experience while preserving the natural and historical essence of the region.<\/p>\n

The development aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s guiding principle of \u201cVirasat Se Vikas\u201d<\/em> (From Heritage to Development), signaling a renewed commitment to combining ecological preservation with economic growth.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said,<\/p>\n

Pachmarhi\u2019s unmatched natural beauty and rich historical significance make it a key destination. Major Infrastructure and Amenities Upgrades<\/h3>\n

Pachmarhi\u2019s makeover includes key upgrades to enhance tourist comfort and accessibility. Major projects include:<\/p>\n

    Drinking Water Supply to Dhoopgarh:<\/strong> At 1,350 metres, Dhoopgarh\u2014the highest point in Madhya Pradesh\u2014now has clean drinking water access via a \u20b960 lakh water pipeline and pump house.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Beautified Entry Points:<\/strong> The main entrance of Pachmarhi has been redeveloped with aesthetic enhancements costing \u20b935 lakh.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Tourist Facilities:<\/strong> Scenic walkways, lighting, and seating have been added with \u20b910 crore invested in the Jaystambh area, while Satpura Retreat has been modernized with a swimming pool, restaurant, and kitchen for \u20b91.35 crore.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    \u2018Pink Toilets\u2019 for Women:<\/strong> Toilets managed by Self-Help Groups have been constructed at Jatashankar and Pandav Caves (\u20b919 lakh), promoting sanitation and women-led livelihoods.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In 2024, Pachmarhi welcomed nearly 2.88 lakh tourists\u2014a figure expected to grow significantly with the commissioning of these projects.<\/p>\n

    Eco-Conscious and Inclusive Development<\/h3>\n

    In sync with the World Environment Day 2025<\/strong> theme\u2014\u201cBeat Plastic Pollution\u201d<\/em>\u2014Pachmarhi is moving toward becoming a polythene-free tourism zone<\/strong>. A \u20b934 lakh RO water plant is being set up to provide drinking water in reusable glass bottles, ensuring environmental responsibility without compromising visitor convenience.<\/p>\n

    At Handi Khoh<\/strong>, development worth \u20b91.98 crore is underway, including sheds, safety railings, amphitheatre, parking, and accessibility features to enhance visitor safety and inclusivity.<\/p>\n

    Basic facilities are also being strengthened at popular eco-tourism sites within the Satpura Tiger Reserve<\/strong>, including Bee Fall, Mahadev, Reechgarh, Chauragarh, and others, with a budget of \u20b92.13 crore.<\/p>\n

    Heritage Reimagined: Homestays and Convention Centres<\/h3>\n

    Pachmarhi\u2019s colonial-era Hilltop Bungalow<\/strong> is being restored into a luxury heritage homestay with four rooms, a library, pool, and restaurant, developed at a cost of \u20b96.70 crore.<\/p>\n

    A multifunctional community centre<\/strong>, costing \u20b99.90 crore, is under construction to host weddings, conferences, and large public events. It will feature a 500-seat indoor hall and a 600-person outdoor lawn, enhancing Pachmarhi\u2019s capacity to host both social and corporate gatherings.<\/p>\n

    A central nursery is also being developed at Hotel Glen View<\/strong> for \u20b934 lakh, supporting the region\u2019s landscaping and green initiatives.<\/p>\n

    Wildlife Tourism Gets a Boost<\/h3>\n

    In a move to attract nature lovers, CM Yadav flagged off 11 new Trex Cruiser safari vehicles<\/strong>. These nine-seater vehicles, operated by Madhya Pradesh Tourism, will provide a safe and immersive wildlife experience in the lush Satpura forests.<\/p>\n
