Baitul Maal initiative hailed as a model of inclusive education support and community empowerment<\/em><\/p>\n

BENGALURU | June 2, 2025<\/strong> \u2014
In a heartening display of communal harmony and educational upliftment, the Baitul Maal Committee<\/em> of Masjid e Taha<\/strong> hosted a felicitation ceremony to honour high-achieving SSLC and PUC students from across communities, including Hindu and Christian families residing in the vicinity of the Masjid. The event not only recognized academic excellence but also underscored the Masjid\u2019s commitment to inclusive social welfare.<\/p>\n

Education as a Tradition, Not Just an Event<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cWe believe supporting underprivileged children and honoring achievers is a noble tradition \u2014 and we do this every year,\u201d said Samiullah Khan<\/strong>, President of the Masjid e Taha Management Committee. \u201cIslam teaches us to promote education, and we are trying our best to live by this guidance.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of this year\u2019s initiative, 25 deserving students were each awarded a scholarship of \u20b910,000<\/strong>, alongside additional honors for top scorers in SSLC and PUC exams. The beneficiaries were not limited to any one faith \u2014 the initiative reached students from Hindu, Christian, and Muslim<\/em> backgrounds, particularly from economically weaker sections.<\/p>\n

A Model Masjid for Modern Times<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Renowned educationist Ishaq Dedderi<\/strong>, who addressed the gathering, praised Masjid e Taha\u2019s proactive and visionary leadership. \u201cI see a glimpse of Masjid-e-Nabawi<\/em> here,\u201d he said. \u201cThis Masjid is not confined to rituals. It is a hub for education, health, and humanitarian services through its Baitul Maal system. It\u2019s a model Masjid for Bengaluru.\u201d<\/p>\n

Highlighting the importance of education, Dedderi quoted the Quranic verse \u2018Iqra\u2019<\/em> \u2014 the first word revealed in the Quran, which means \u2018Read\u2019<\/em>. \u201cEducation is a lifelong journey \u2014 from cradle to grave,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd if you educate a woman, you educate an entire family.\u201d<\/p>\n

He urged students to recognize and respect the sacrifices of their parents. \u201cHard work, honesty, and integrity are the foundations of success \u2014 whether in academics or professional life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Masjid as a Multi-functional Institution<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Another speaker, Salahuddin<\/strong>, emphasized the broader role a Masjid should play in society. \u201cA Masjid is not just a place for five daily prayers. It must also function as a community court, health center, education hub, and welfare institution \u2014 and Masjid e Taha exemplifies this vision,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He lauded the committee\u2019s collective efforts, including the establishment of a community graveyard and support services for the marginalized. \u201cLet\u2019s raise our children to be critical thinkers \u2014 not passive followers \u2014 and help them build a better future for all.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ceremony was graced by several local leaders and social activists including Shahjahan<\/strong>, Sagar Samiullah<\/strong>, Ameer Jaan<\/strong>, Mohammed Mazeer<\/strong>, Salahuddin Khan<\/strong> (President, Al-Faiz), and Chand Sab<\/strong>, all of whom appreciated the Masjid\u2019s inclusive approach to community service and urged continued collaboration across communities.<\/p>\n
