Karnataka Launches Day Care Chemotherapy Centers in Government Hospitals<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Bengaluru, May 2024<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 In a landmark move to enhance cancer care accessibility, Karnataka Health Minister\u00a0Dinesh Gundu Rao<\/strong>\u00a0announced the launch of\u00a0Day Care Chemotherapy centers<\/strong>\u00a0in government hospitals across the state. The initiative, set to begin this month, aims to provide affordable and convenient treatment for cancer patients, reducing the need for prolonged hospital stays.<\/p>\n

Expanding Access to Affordable Cancer Care<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Speaking at the inauguration of\u00a0Sparsh Hospital\u2019s 300-bed quaternary care facility<\/strong>\u00a0in Hennur, Minister Rao emphasized the government\u2019s commitment to\u00a0community healthcare<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Government hospitals operate with the motto of serving all sections of society. While we do not compete with private super-specialty hospitals, our focus is on ensuring that essential treatments like chemotherapy are accessible to everyone,”<\/em>\u00a0Rao said.<\/p>\n

The first center will be inaugurated by\u00a0Chief Minister Siddaramaiah<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0Mysuru on May 23<\/strong>, with plans to extend the service to\u00a0all district hospitals<\/strong>\u00a0in Karnataka.<\/p>\n

The Health Minister highlighted the importance of\u00a0research and development (R&D)<\/strong>\u00a0in making advanced treatments more affordable.<\/p>\n

“A few years ago, MRI and CT scans were prohibitively expensive. Today, they are far more accessible. Similarly, we must invest in R&D to bring down the cost of cancer care,”<\/em>\u00a0Rao noted. He urged\u00a0private hospitals<\/strong>\u00a0to contribute more to medical research to benefit patients across economic backgrounds.<\/p>\n

Bengaluru Emerges as a Leading Medical Hub<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil<\/strong>, who also attended the event, praised\u00a0Bengaluru\u2019s growth<\/strong>\u00a0as a\u00a0global healthcare destination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Bengaluru is now a hub for world-class medical facilities. Karnataka produces the highest number of doctors in India, with many serving across the globe,”<\/em>\u00a0Dr. Patil said.<\/p>\n
