It will become impossible for poor students to afford even the few government colleges that remain,\u201d he said.<br data-start=\"1156\" data-end=\"1159\" \/>He cited the example of Maharani\u2019s College, which saw a spike in fees and a drop in student enrolment after it was transformed into Maharani\u2019s Cluster University.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1325\" data-end=\"1657\">\u201cWe strongly condemn this policy of the government, which is turning education into a privilege for the wealthy. Once colleges become constituent units, government grants will also cease. This clearly shows how the government is facilitating the commercialization of education. Students must come together to resist this,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1659\" data-end=\"1695\">Drawing Inspiration from History<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1697\" data-end=\"2063\">Echoing the call for continued resistance, AIDSO State Vice-President Abhay Diwakar invoked the legacy of India\u2019s freedom fighters.<br data-start=\"1828\" data-end=\"1831\" \/>\u201cJust as Bhagat Singh and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose stood up against injustice in their time, we must draw inspiration from their struggles. We need to form a struggle committee and fight to save these institutions,\u201d Diwakar urged.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2065\" data-end=\"2111\">Students Fear Loss of Affordable Education<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2113\" data-end=\"2612\">Student representatives from both RC College and Government Arts College also addressed the gathering, expressing dismay at the state government&#8217;s broader education policy.<br data-start=\"2285\" data-end=\"2288\" \/>\u201cThis year alone, the government has announced the closure of seven universities citing lack of funds. Turning existing government colleges into university constituent colleges will leave no option but to raise fees,\u201d one student speaker said. \u201cThis is deeply regrettable and will push poor students further to the margins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2614\" data-end=\"2814\">The protest highlighted growing concern among students that the government&#8217;s decisions are systematically eroding the accessibility of public education under the guise of administrative restructuring.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2816\" data-end=\"2866\">Strong Turnout Demonstrates Growing Discontent<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2868\" data-end=\"3177\">The protest saw participation from a broad base of students, supported by several district leaders of AIDSO.
