Bengaluru, 24 April: <\/strong>Prominent Muslim scholars and community leaders in Karnataka united in condemnation of the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which killed several innocent civilians, including tourists. At a press conference held at the Bengaluru Press Club, they labeled the assault a “cowardly and barbaric act,” extended solidarity to the victims’ families, and demanded accountability for the apparent security lapses that enabled the tragedy.<\/p>\n

Leaders Question Security Lapses, Seek Answers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Maulana Dr. Maqsood Imran Rashadi, a senior cleric, raised concerns over the lack of security presence at the tourist hotspot.\u00a0“How could such a high-profile location be left vulnerable? This failure is inexcusable\u2014terrorism has no justification and must be universally condemned,”<\/em>\u00a0he asserted.<\/p>\n

Dr. Saad Belgaumi challenged official claims of improved security in Kashmir post-Article 370\u2019s revocation.\u00a0“If terrorism has been eradicated, how did this attack occur? Where was the protection for civilians?”<\/em>\u00a0He urged unity, warning that\u00a0“terrorists aim to shatter our social harmony\u2014we must stand together.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Demands for Justice and Compensation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mufti Iftekhar Qasmi called the attack\u00a0“a national disgrace”<\/em>\u00a0and pressed for a transparent investigation.\u00a0“How did armed militants operate freely? Why was Aadil, a Muslim tourist who bravely resisted, left without aid for an hour?”<\/em>\u00a0he questioned, seeking accountability for the delayed response.<\/p>\n

Maulana Shabbir Nadvi demanded swift justice for the perpetrators and compensation of at least \u20b91 crore per victim\u2019s family.\u00a0“Mere condolences aren\u2019t enough\u2014the government must act to prevent future attacks.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Warning Against Communal Exploitation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Zulfikhar Noori cautioned against divisive rhetoric, stating,\u00a0“This attack targets India\u2019s unity, not just tourists. Some seek to vilify Muslims and fuel polarization\u2014we reject this agenda.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Maulana Aejaz Nadvi and Maulana Shah Wajid criticized sections of the media for communalizing the incident.\u00a0“The focus must be on unbiased justice,”<\/em>\u00a0said Nadvi, while Wajid challenged the government:\u00a0“If it claims strength, why did this happen under its watch?”<\/em><\/p>\n

Closing the conference, Usman Sharif emphasized resilience:\u00a0“The perpetrators must face the fullest punishment. India\u2019s message should be clear\u2014terrorism will not break us, and justice will prevail.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The Karnataka leaders\u2019 collective stance underscored grief, a demand for accountability, and a firm rejection of attempts to divide communities in the wake of the attack.<\/p>\n
