B.PAC and CGI Unveil B.SAFE Safety Audit Report for Vijayanagar and Govindarajanagar<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Bengaluru, 29 March, 2025:<\/strong> In a significant step toward enhancing public safety for women, the Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC), in collaboration with CSR partner CGI, has released the B.SAFE Constituency Public Place Safety Audit Report for Vijayanagar and Govindarajanagar Assembly Constituencies. The findings provide a detailed assessment of 265 public places, offering key recommendations for improving accessibility and security.<\/p>\n

The report was unveiled in the presence of Govindarajanagar MLA Priya Krishna and CGI Vice President Srividya Natraj. The audit covered essential public spaces, including 46 Anganwadi Kendras, 131 bus stops, 58 parks, 10 Primary Health Centers (PHCs), 4 police stations, and 16 public toilets across both constituencies.<\/p>\n

A Comprehensive Approach to Public Safety<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The B.SAFE Constituency initiative is a pioneering effort by B.PAC aimed at making public spaces safer for women through a holistic approach. The initiative involves safety audits, community engagement programs, actionable solutions, and long-term advocacy.<\/p>\n

CGI has further enhanced the program by developing a mobile application that facilitates real-time data collection, issue reporting, and tracking, ensuring greater efficiency in addressing safety concerns.<\/p>\n

The safety audit, conducted across nine BBMP wards in Vijayanagar and ten in Govindarajanagar, identified key areas for improvement:<\/p>\n

  • Bus stops require better accessibility, including seating, route maps, and improved pedestrian pathways.<\/li>\n
  • Expansion of Anganwadi Kendras into full-day care centers, as 47% currently serve over ten working mothers.<\/li>\n
  • Parks need enhanced safety measures, such as increased surveillance or security personnel.<\/li>\n
  • Public toilets should remain open throughout the day with access to basic hygiene facilities, including sanitary pads.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Govindarajanagar:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    • Bus stops require essential amenities and improved pedestrian pathways.<\/li>\n
    • 62% of Anganwadi Kendras need proper seating arrangements for children.<\/li>\n
    • 39% of parks lack play equipment, though all have well-maintained walking tracks.<\/li>\n
    • Police stations have dedicated, well-maintained women\u2019s restrooms and separate waiting areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Transforming Constituencies into Safe Zones<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      These insights serve as a roadmap for transforming Vijayanagar and Govindarajanagar into model constituencies for safety and empowerment. B.PAC will work closely with local communities, ward committees, civic bodies, and elected representatives to implement the recommendations effectively.<\/p>\n
