In a powerful memorandum submitted to the Department of Collegiate Education &amp; Technical Education, AISA exposed the government\u2019s appalling failures\u2014skyrocketing fees, crumbling institutions, joblessness, and the silencing of student voices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Education is a right, not a luxury\u2014yet the government treats it as a profit-making business,&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0declared Aratrika, a passionate student activist.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;While students drown in debt, the government turns a blind eye, betraying Karnataka\u2019s youth and robbing them of opportunities.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Government\u2019s Shameful Underfunding of Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>AISA courageously demanded that Karnataka allocate at least 6% of its GSDP to education, as recommended by the Kothari Commission. The current pitiful 1.45% budget reveals the government\u2019s blatant disregard for students, leading to decaying infrastructure, overworked faculty, and severe resource shortages.<\/p>\n<p>The memorandum also exposed the government\u2019s gross mismanagement\u2014<strong>412 out of 440 government colleges lack principals<\/strong>, crippling academic governance while officials remain indifferent.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Students Fight Back Against Fee Exploitation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>AISA fiercely condemned the government\u2019s complicity in the\u00a0<strong>commercialization of education<\/strong>, demanding an immediate rollback of fee hikes and strict regulation of private college fees.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;No student should be crushed by debt before their career even begins,&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0asserted Sachin, a determined student leader.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;The government must end this exploitation now.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The association also slammed the corrupt practice of forcing students to pay for re-evaluations due to deliberately poor grading\u2014<strong>a cruel scheme to squeeze money from struggling families.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Government Fails Students on Jobs and Transport<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With thousands of job vacancies unfilled, AISA accused the government of abandoning graduates, particularly from technical courses like BTech, BCA, and BBA.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Where are the promised jobs?&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0students demanded.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Why must we pay the price for government inaction?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AISA also exposed how rising transport costs push students out of education.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Bus and metro fare hikes are locking out the poor,&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0said Anu, a student activist.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Free public transport is not a favor\u2014it\u2019s a necessity!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>40 Years of Silencing Student Voices<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For\u00a0<strong>four decades<\/strong>, Karnataka has banned student unions\u2014<strong>a blatant suppression of democracy<\/strong>. AISA condemned this authoritarian move, linking it to outdated syllabi, faculty shortages, and crumbling campuses.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Students must have a voice in their own education!&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0Aratrika declared.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;This dictatorship over education must end!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Betrayal of Marginalized Students<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>AISA exposed the government\u2019s\u00a0<strong>heartless delay<\/strong>\u00a0in disbursing post-matric scholarships for SC\/ST\/OBC, minority, and economically weaker students\u2014some waiting\u00a0<strong>over two years<\/strong>. The\u00a0<strong>66% scholarship cut for minority PhD scholars<\/strong>\u00a0was denounced as an\u00a0<strong>attack on social justice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>No More Empty Promises on Campus Safety<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>AISA demanded\u00a0<strong>real action<\/strong>\u00a0on gender justice, calling for democratically elected\u00a0<strong>Gender Sensitisation Committees Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH)<\/strong>\u00a0in all colleges.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Women students deserve safety, not lip service!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>AISA\u2019s Unwavering Fight for Justice<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>AISA challenged the government to include these demands in the long-overdue State Education Policy and\u00a0<strong>finally act<\/strong>\u00a0for Karnataka\u2019s students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;We are not begging\u2014we are demanding our rightful future,&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0Sachin proclaimed.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;The government must answer for its failures, or face the fury of Karnataka\u2019s students!&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Enough is enough.
